Let's Run With It - Issue #41 Workout, Exercise & Training: What emotions do these words evoke?

Hi Reader

Last week was full on with two public holidays, school holidays and move packing. You may have noticed Let's run didn't arrive in you inbox.

With the week being squished into less days and everyone home my schedule really went out the window.

My movement days and times had to be shifted around, and some business activities didn’t get completed.

I’m getting better at being ok with letting go.

This week is moving week and have a sick child (why is it children are always sick right at the end of term or when the holidays finish?), I know it’s going to be messy. Movement wise I’ve already told myself “It’s going to look different to usual”.

Most likely a short run or two to clear my head and some stretching OH and LOTS of BREATHING.

WORKOUT, EXERCISE, TRAINING What emotions do these words evoke?

  • What feelings do you get when you hear these words?
  • What do you associate with these words?
  • What stories have you told yourself based on these words?

Often, we’ve created stories, associations or feelings around these words that fill us with dread.

“I HAVE TO EXERCISE”, “I NEED TO DO MY WORKOUT”

I was listening to a podcast by Oliva Park Coach, where she talked about shifting to using words that are based on stories or feelings that resonate in a more positive way for you.

Oliva suggested if you’re finding these words don’t work for you, changing the word or words to be more inline with your beliefs and values.

Ask yourself what this time means to you? why do you do it? how does it make you feel?

Then choose a word or words that are better aligned.

This time spent moving can be called whatever you want.

By renaming the time the hope is it will be more meaningful and creates better connection and ownership.

After listening to this podcast, it got me thinking about different words that are meaning full to me. I’ve come up with sanity time and thinking time.

Do you think this is worth a try?

What would be more meaningful to you.
